Aadhaar Card Update: Not Valid for Passport DOB Proof Anymore

AAdhaar Card Latest update : Attention all passport applicants! The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has decided to discontinue the acceptance of Aadhaar cards as proof of date of birth for passport applications.

With immediate effect, only birth certificates will be considered valid documentation for establishing one’s age.

This decision comes in response to concerns surrounding the misuse of Aadhaar cards and discrepancies between the stated age on the card and the applicant’s physical appearance. To ensure the integrity of the passport issuance process and prevent fraudulent activities, the MEA has deemed birth certificates as the sole reliable source of date of birth verification.

Previously, Aadhaar cards were accepted alongside other documents such as PAN cards, driving licenses, voter ID cards, LIC policies, and matriculation certificates. However, this practice has been discontinued, and applicants must now provide an original birth certificate to prove their age.

The notification regarding this change is expected to be issued shortly. In the meantime, passport applicants are advised to prepare and submit their birth certificates along with other required documents.
